Tokyo Life and Japanese Food at Home w TabiEats

Overview

In this April 2020 livestream recorded during Tokyo's state of emergency, John Daub hosts Shinichi and Satoshi from the popular food channel TabiEats. Broadcasting from his balcony while self-isolating, John discusses life under lockdown, food delivery options, and the challenges of staying healthy in Tokyo during the early pandemic. The conversation ranges from personal health scares to nostalgic discussions about luxury train travel and Tokyo's rapidly changing urban landscape.

The trio reminisces about a previous collaboration riding the Seven Stars (Nanatsuboshi) luxury train in Kyushu, sharing behind-the-scenes details about the experience. They also dive into favorite vending machine spots, missing cafe culture, and how they are coping with limited movement. Timeline / Chapters

Japan Travel Tips

  • Shopping During Emergencies: John recommends visiting less popular supermarkets or going late at night (midnight to 5 a.m.) at 24-hour stores like Seiyu to avoid crowds.
  • Food Delivery: Unagi (eel) and pizza chains like Domino's offered contactless delivery and discounts (50% off for pickup) during the state of emergency.
  • Vending Machines: For unique food, visit the Mansei katsu sandwich vending machine in Akihabara. For nostalgia, the Yurakucho vending machine corner offers beer and sake in a rustic setting.
  • Tokyo Navigation: Shibuya Station is undergoing massive renovations until around 2027; expect maze-like conditions and changed exits.
  • Train Reservations: The Seven Stars luxury train requires lottery-style booking well in advance; tickets are approximately $10,000 per person.

Japanese Language & Culture Notes

  • Nanatsuboshi (Seven Stars): A luxury sleeper train cruising through Kyushu. Known for extreme exclusivity and high cost.
  • Shotengai (Covered Shopping Arcade): Traditional shopping streets. Shinichi notes his local shotengai used to be like a "mini Shinjuku" with theaters, now changed.
  • State of Emergency (2020): John clarifies that Tokyo's declaration had no legal penalties or strict lockdown laws; it was largely a request for cooperation.
  • Showa Era Buildings: Many old shops are being demolished not for historical preservation reasons, but because they don't meet newer earthquake resistance codes.
  • Mata ne: Common closing phrase meaning "See you later."

Food & Drink Guide

  • Unagi (Eel): Delivered meal John and Kanae enjoyed. Considered safe with proper delivery procedures.
  • Yamagata Wagyu (A5): High-grade Japanese beef from Yamagata Prefecture. John bought cuts for ~6,000 yen ($60) for a balcony yakiniku party.
  • Yonezawa Beef: Specific brand of wagyu mentioned alongside Yamagata.
  • Mansei Katsu Sandwich: Sold via vending machine in Akihabara. Also offers deep-fried ground beef sandwiches.
  • Menchi Katsu: Minced meat cutlet. Satoshi's homemade version is highlighted as a favorite dish.
  • Kit Kat (Ocean Salt): New flavor discussed by Satoshi, reminiscent of salted caramel.
  • Nikujaga: Meat and potatoes stew. Planned for future cooking collaboration using an Instant Pot.

People

  • John Daub: Host. American living in Tokyo for 30+ years. Broadcasting from home balcony.
  • Shinichi: Co-host of TabiEats. Recovered from a serious illness during lockdown. Runs a personal channel "Shinichi's World".
  • Satoshi: Co-host of TabiEats. Discusses cooking, glasses collection, and snack reviews.
  • Kanae Daub: John's wife. Mentioned as joining the Seven Stars trip and participating in lockdown life.
  • Peter von Gomm: John's friend. Mentioned as having joined the Seven Stars train trip.

Key Takeaways

  • Tokyo's "state of emergency" relied on public cooperation rather than legal enforcement.
  • Getting medical testing during the early pandemic was difficult even with severe symptoms.
  • Tokyo's landscape changes rapidly compared to Kyoto; buildings are often replaced for safety codes rather than preserved.
  • Food YouTubers adapted to lockdown by cooking at home and reviewing delivery/snacks instead of dining out.
  • Collaboration between creators helps maintain content quality and community engagement during isolation.

Notable Quotes

  • 00:01:05 "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. That would have been fun, too."
  • 00:03:16 "It's $10,000 a ticket per person. So even if you have the money, it's like winning the lottery, kind of."
  • 00:08:36 "Only problem with this quarantine thing is that you know, we're social distancing when we go outside... but it's hard to social distance ourselves in the refrigerator."
  • 00:24:23 "Tokyo is supposed to be a place that is continuously evolving. It's always getting new... Kyoto is a place that lives beyond its time."

00:00:01 John Daub: We're going live. Hello, everybody. Welcome to the podcast. I'm watching to make sure this goes live. I'm in Tokyo in self-isolation on my balcony. Joining me via livestream to talk about life in Tokyo is my friend Shinichi and Satoshi from Tabi Eats. How you doing, guys?

00:00:39 Shinichi & Satoshi: We're good. We're doing really well. We haven't seen you in about six months.

00:00:45 John Daub: I know. Can we even talk about it? Can we even talk about where we were in October? I can't talk about it yet.

00:00:54 Shinichi & Satoshi: I guess not.

00:00:56 John Daub: I'll talk about it.

00:00:58 Shinichi & Satoshi: Sure. I don't mind either. We talk about it with our friends and stuff.

00:01:05 John Daub: No, it was not Vegas. We were not in Vegas. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. That would have been fun, too. I saw these guys down in Kyushu in October riding a luxury train. What was that train called?

00:01:22 Shinichi & Satoshi: Seven Stars. Nanatsuboshi (Seven Stars).

00:01:25 John Daub: Seven Stars. We rode it together for a TV show. Let's not talk about the TV show. How about that? That counts, right?

00:01:32 Shinichi & Satoshi: Right. That's something we shouldn't talk about.

00:01:35 John Daub: So how's your self-isolation? Kanae came with us, and my friend Peter von Gomm came, and we had some people that we knew, which made it even more fun. But we didn't know that we would be there.

00:01:42 Shinichi & Satoshi: That was amazing. It really was, yeah. We had a feeling, actually, the day we met. You went live. John's in Fukuoka, Hakata Station. He's in Hakata Station. We're at Hakata Station. That was so cool. I remember Kanae and I just... I was happy that you were there. At least we knew someone, and it made it a lot more fun, the whole experience for us.

00:02:28 John Daub: Kanae and I walked into Hakata Station. They have a special room for those that are going on this train, up on the third floor, I think it was. We walked in there. We were like, oh, this is so cool. We rounded the corner, and there's Shinichi and Satoshi sitting right there. We're like, what are you doing here? This is crazy. I was like, Twilight Zone. And then you walk on a red carpet to go to your train. And then we went into the train, and it was the most incredible thing ever.

00:03:04 Shinichi & Satoshi: It was. As a train geek, I was like, I'm here. I'm touching stuff. I wasn't licking it. It's like, this is real. We're doing this.

00:03:16 John Daub: It's $10,000 a ticket per person. They have a long waiting list as well. So even if you have the money, it's like winning the lottery, kind of. This is going to be on TV worldwide in October, I think. They said a year or so. Filming's all done, right? So we'll announce this on all our social media when this comes true. Everybody's going to know. That's going to be a lot of fun. Oh, did you get the DVD that they sent us about the pictures or something?

00:03:53 Shinichi & Satoshi: Yes. Oh, that was serious. Did you order any pictures for yourselves? The photos that they were taking. You could actually order whatever you wanted. But they were kind of pricey, though. Very expensive for like one photo. 800 yen per photo. Remember the photographers were going around taking photos? Everyone? Yeah, so you could order those. You could look at those photos online and order them for yourself.

00:04:31 John Daub: We didn't do that. We had many, many pictures that we want, but we couldn't afford all of them. Only four. I'll just look at yours. And I'm in the background photo bombing you, I think, at a couple of them. Those are the ones that I want personally. I don't care too much about the other ones. We might have been secretly taking pictures as well, which we weren't supposed to do. What did I just say? I just announced it to the world. So what have you guys been doing? Making content in your apartment over the last 30 days that we've been in emergency state of emergency here in Tokyo.

00:05:21 Shinichi: Yeah, the recipe videos, the new videos we have them right on. We just filmed a picnic at home video, which is trying to get creative because we can't go out anymore. And yeah, we're kind of behind because as you already know I was sick for three weeks. This is kind of crazy. And then Satoshi, he got sick after that. And we don't know if we had it or not because they won't test you here. You have very severe symptoms but I was finally able to get online consultation finally my third week cuz my sore throat was getting so bad and I was getting so worried and I got medicine online. Antibiotics and it worked very well. It must be not, maybe it wasn't, but who knows. That's the thing, it's the testing here in Tokyo is really impossible.

00:06:19 Satoshi: You had a fever for four days. I don't know do you want to talk about this?

00:06:24 Shinichi: Sure, I don't mind. I had a fever for almost four days. The highest that went was like 38.9 degrees and you know I had the sore throat but we called the call center and the doctor but they said just stay home because you have no respiratory problems. And then I think the fourth day, I still wasn't feeling too well so we called again and they said the same thing. They'll just stay home and it's you know they tell us call the call center then call the doctor but you know they say the same thing. The doctor would say call the call center again. So it was like, oh gosh, this is kind of crazy and then I think after three weeks my throat was starting to get really really bad to the point where I couldn't swallow my own saliva and I thought oh I might die from this throat infection instead. And then we called the doctor then we called the call center then we finally figured out like we would have to find a place that would do a phone consultation online and then yeah, we have to do that ourselves because you just kept telling me to just stay home.

00:07:40 John Daub: Yeah, this worries me. That's why I definitely don't want to get this at all. Even if we did, I don't know what the procedure would be to do it and the fact that you had a fever for four days and you still couldn't get tested scares the crap out of me to be honest with you. So I think that's the biggest problem.

00:08:01 Shinichi: Exactly. That's the exact thing. We were thinking about and we have a dog at home and fortunately after I got better, you know, he got sick, but I was better to take care of our dog. But we both get sick like who's gonna take care of our dog and you know, so that was worrying as well.

00:08:18 John Daub: We'll take care of your dog.

00:08:21 Shinichi & Satoshi: Thank you guys so kind. He's a good boy. He's a good boy, but you're feeling better now. Much better much better after the meds. Yeah. Thank you much much better.

00:08:36 John Daub: Yeah, only problem with this quarantine thing is that you know, we're social distancing when we go outside what we have to but it's hard to social distance ourselves in the refrigerator. That's a difficult. We're home it's so much. Yes, so bad. Well, we're working out at home now, but still that doesn't make up for how much we eat at home. So that's maybe it's stress-eating.

00:09:05 Shinichi & Satoshi: Yeah, our wait, you two in the same house. So you're not social distancing from each other. Are you? Not not anymore. We did when I was sick. So we you know, he's up to the guest bedroom for three weeks. It's very hard. I know I always clean sanitized every place that he touched. He actually had the goggles, the whole hazmat coat. And, you know, to bring me food and stuff like that. Yeah, so we actually, yeah, were in separate rooms for a month. And then after that, felt, I mean, you know, safe enough to, you know, interact.

00:09:48 John Daub: Is this something that you got in New York? You guys were, and by the way, I enjoyed those live streams and the videos that you made in New York, they were great. Is this something you picked up traveling back? Or where do you think you got the throat infection from? Strep throat, right?

00:10:06 Shinichi: You know, I don't know, to be honest with you. You know, we went to Kyoto and Osaka as well right after that. And I felt, I didn't feel too well when I was in Osaka and Kyoto. But I didn't have a fever. I just didn't feel well. In New York, I was okay. But from the timing, we didn't get it. So probably not New York, you know, timing wise. We went early February. So still, they were not. So I have no idea. And we were very careful. We wear the mask. We don't touch our hands. And, you know, touch our eyes or, you know, mouth. Anything.

00:10:54 John Daub: I asked you that because I know you were being really, really careful. And you still got something. That's why we're scared to death to leave the house. We, you know, we're lucky. We live in a place where we have a lot of markets. But we only go to one. The most not popular one. Because there's less people there. Less people in the place. It's a boring supermarket. But, you know, at least, you know, we feel safer. Very quiet. I've been going after hours. Right before it closes. And there's not a lot of people there. 24-hour supermarkets are doing an amazing business. Seiyu has a lot of customers now between midnight and 5 a.m. People who are shopping. Midnight and 5 a.m. There's not a lot of 24-hour supermarkets in Tokyo. One Seiyu. There's a lot of people there. 24 hours? Oh, okay. Thank you for telling us that. I do my best to help the community. And usually up at midnight anyway. Especially this, you know, staying home kind of messes up with your sleep pattern, at least for me. He stayed very late last night. Or early in the morning. We were talking about this. I said, when should we start the live stream? How about around 12? Because I probably won't wake up till 10. She goes, oh, me too. She said, me too. Cool. Woke up at 10 o'clock today.

00:12:41 John Daub: I want to go beyond this, the life that we're having right now and go into what one of our passions are about Japan. Food. I want to talk a little bit about vending machines. But first, what have you been eating? Has this lockdown, this state of emergency? I wouldn't even call it a lockdown. Because we're allowed to go out. It's a weird one. I don't know if a lot of you understand that the Tokyo state of emergency, there's no penalty. You're fine if you do go outside and want to cough all over the street. People can do that. There's no bite to the laws here. In fact, there's no law. It's just a declaration, pretty much. And there are quite a number of people without masks either. And there are people who are walking on the street as well.

00:13:35 Shinichi & Satoshi: But we've been eating all our meals at home, obviously. We haven't gone out to eat in over a month. Mostly we cook. In the beginning, we were eating whatever we had in the pantry because we didn't really want to go out. And I got sick, obviously. At first, we were just eating stuff that weren't too expensive and not perishable like noodles and udon, things like that, pasta. And then it's not so good because it's all carbs and that's just not so good. So we're trying to eat more healthy now. Because we're not on the lockdown, we can go buy vegetables. In the beginning, we were buying groceries online, Seiyu online grocery. So we did that. We're trying to eat healthy now. But Seiyu is right down the street, so we figured if we go and we're careful, it's okay. But yeah, we eat anything. We also are still making videos, the food reviews. So we're eating a lot of snacks from what people send us. So we're eating junk foods. But yeah, other than that, yeah.

00:14:57 John Daub: How about you and Kanae? We've been doing some delivery. Two days ago, we had unagi delivered and it was amazing. The restaurant is the chain and they have a procedure, so they say online. There's never anything that's 100% safe, but we figured it was worth the chance and it really was. It was delicious. We've had the Domino's pizza. Because it was fabulous. It was 50% off. So we took advantage of that. Was that on Wednesday, right? Actually, because we're right next to Domino's. We have a Domino's right next door. You can go to the store and pick them up. So it's 50% off if you go pick it up, I think. Here at least. It's kind of cool.

00:16:00 John Daub: I'm looking at the messages of your viewers. And I see a lot of familiar faces. Familiar names. The usual gang is here. Hi, everybody. Yeah, that's so cool. We have a lot of the same people watching our shows. We really do. True. That is true. Well, we're going to go in and take some questions from people here. What are some of the foods that you guys miss here because of the state of emergency?

00:16:33 Shinichi & Satoshi: Ah, how about you? I want to eat a very fresh salad. Salad? It's strange, but it is a little bit difficult to keep the vegetables for a long time in the refrigerator. So sometimes the vegetables become wilted. I want to eat a very fresh salad. Of course, ramen anytime. I actually mostly just miss going to a cafe or something. Because, yeah, just being able to sit in a cafe and have a cup of tea or something and edit or do research. Just the luxury of doing that, I miss that a lot. I think just going to a cafe. Just going out having a normal life is something that we both completely miss.

00:17:34 John Daub: That's why when we go to the supermarket. Now, I went to the butcher shop. I picked up some cuts of Yamagata wagyu. A5 wagyu. It cost me about 60 bucks. We had a yakiniku party on the balcony. Yamagata gyu. It was good. You know, he's from Yamagata. Oh, look at the jealous face. I love that. I'll stare you down. I ate the Yamagata gyu. Yonezawa beef. A5. Adam Ailo writes in here, best wishes to the three of my favorite Japanese YouTubers. Thanks, Adam. I appreciate that. That's really nice. Oh, Nosh is right. Nosh is our moderator. And he's helped set me up on Twitch as well. I've been doing some stuff on Twitch.

00:18:44 Shinichi & Satoshi: So, you know, like you were mentioning, you know, the vending machines, right? We actually have a book like this. It has like all the places where you can find vending machines throughout Japan. Nostalgic vending machines. But there are like so many of them. There are like 50 places in this book. Yeah. I want that book. I want it now. Where's the best vending machine in Tokyo? Let's just put this to rest right now. Um, this isn't an easy answer either. This is a lot of good ones. Where is your favorite vending machine?

00:19:36 John Daub: I think for us the best vending machine in Tokyo right now... Would you say it's the sandwich place? In Akihabara. The Mansei katsu sandwich. Yeah, Mansei. So they make the katsu sandwiches, but their hamburger, their deep-fried ground beef sandwiches were incredible. The Mansei katsu. So good. Kanae and I went there and did a livestream just eating sandwiches. It was pretty popular livestream. Everybody wanted to see the sandwiches being eaten. It's true.

00:20:27 John Daub: You guys, besides your Tabi Eats channel, which is very popular, you have a live streaming channel and Shinichi, you have a world channel as well, right? Shinichi's World. That's for me to vent or, you know, do whatever I feel like doing. You know, I have to keep Tabi Eats professional and happy and clean. Shinichi's World I just talk about whatever I feel I want to talk about. Depressed? When I have some bad days, you know, I stream on that channel. I get it. I use Instagram as well for my venting. I'll just go there and then I delete them. I delete them right away. Like oh, yeah, save your rant. That's what it says on the Instagram. No, save it for 24 hours. Instagram I never say. YouTube is forever, right? True that is true. It's not forever. By the way twitch apparently expires after a few months. So you have to back up your work. I've never actually done a live stream on it. But I've set up a channel over there and gonna start next month because why not just explore the world.

00:22:06 Shinichi & Satoshi: Vending machines my favorite one is the vending machine corner in Yurakucho. Have you ever been there? Oh yeah, it's from like the show I.G. died but everybody's smoking outside. It's awful, but it's beautiful. It's so rustic. Yeah. We went there once. Yeah, we did. Most of them beer or sake the liquor stuff. Yeah, I think that's pretty cool. They might be going out of business. I do this because we don't know because the smoking laws have been so strict if they banned smoking out on the street. That's why you're going to lose a lot of their clients who like to drink there because it's two dollars to have a can of beer there and that would be really sad, right? That is sad. That's very sad.

00:23:10 John Daub: We've been losing a lot of those old shops from the Showa era just because the buildings are not up to code because they changed this year. More earthquake resistant and whatnot after 2011. They have to be up to code and they're not. So they're getting destroyed. Japan is not a place that protects the buildings for historical reasons. They want to make sure everyone's safe and demolish them and start over, which is sad. It is. It really is for me. When mother comes here to visit, because of course she's lived here when she was younger, she's always a little bit sad when things become too modern. This is personality. Yeah. It does. It really does. I agree. Yeah, that's Tokyo though. Tokyo is supposed to be a place that is continuously evolving. It's always getting new. A shop will be there. It's always been there for five years and then it's gone and something new will come in. That's Tokyo. Kyoto is a place that lives beyond its time. And that's two different... That's Japan to me.

00:24:23 Shinichi & Satoshi: Like our neighborhood, we have a pretty nice shotengai (covered shopping arcade). But back in the day, the place where we lived, the shopping street, used to be sort of like a mini Shinjuku. So the supermarket, used to be a movie theater and you can kind of tell from the exterior and things like that. So that's quite interesting as well. The city itself is so different than it was three years ago. Isn't it? Just Shibuya area. I can hardly recognize it. I rarely go there. When I go there, it's like, what? Where? Huh? What's this building? Exactly. Exactly. It's crazy. We always get lost. And it's like, what? Where's the exit that used to be? It's extremely difficult now.

00:25:14 John Daub: Shibuya was hard to get around even before all the new renovations. Now it's even worse. It's even worse. Because there's... Have you been around the new YouTube offices at the Scramble Square building in Shibuya? It's a maze. All around there. I feel like a hamster. It is. Exactly. Exactly. I'll build a house over here. I can't wait for it. I can't wait for them to finish all the construction though. It seems like, you know, it's forever. So it's until 2027. Seven more years. I think that most of the tough part of the construction, I think, is going to be done before the Olympics were to launch. The new Ginza line, the new station in there, the new building. Behind the station. It was awful a year ago and now it's starting to settle down. The bus area will be finished by the end of spring, I believe. So I'm looking forward to it.

00:26:19 John Daub: We have about 10 minutes left. So I wanted to go to you out there in the world of the internet and ask you what questions do you have, not for me, you can ask me anytime, but for Satoshi and Shinichi from Tabi Eats, because it's just so great to have them here on the show. So guys, shoot here on the live stream. I'm waiting for your questions. I'm waiting for your questions to get some answers. This is a time of awkward silence where I speak seductively into the microphone. You know what we would like to do one day, John, with you is maybe do like a... Do you cook at all? I've been cooking, especially with the Instant Pot. Oh, Instant Pot. Do something like either Satoshi and I will tell you what, you know, give you directions. A dish, for example. Oh, that would be fun. And then you cook it and see how it turns out, you know? Oh, we got to do that. Yeah. I think that would be really cool. I think we all need to find content as much as possible. Let's just keep inventing ideas. Like I'm up for, I'm game. I think so. I think that would be great. I'm game. We want to stay, we want all of you out there to be entertained, but we want to keep busy as well. I think that cooking episode would be awesome. We've been trying to come up with more recipes and we're going to do a Instant Pot nikujaga maybe tonight. Oh. It's going to be delicious. Oh, that's fun. Kanae's recipe.

00:28:03 Shinichi: What is the best meal Satoshi has made? From Jason. Oh, what's the best meal he's made? Well. How do you think? Okay. This year, the best meal he's made or the best dish he has made is menchi katsu. Menchi katsu. Oh, stop it. I got to tell you that it is better than any menchi katsu in Tokyo or Japan rather. Thank you. Oh my gosh. He had to make it for me twice because it was so good. I mean, it was that good. You don't even need to put sauce on it. Yeah. We actually did a live stream, a live cooking, making menchi katsu because one of our viewers requested it and it, oh my God, that was pretty simple. That's so good. But it sounded well. So that was my main, my favorite dish he's made for me this year.

00:29:01 Shinichi & Satoshi: Justin is 11 years old. And he is hiding right now. Usually he'll come to the table if we have some kind of food. But. Looking for Justin. Unless we have food. He's looking for Justin right now. And have you tried this Kit Kat? Sorry. Oh. I think I'll show you. It's Ocean Salt. It's a brand new flavor and it sounds really boring, but it's actually my favorite Kit Kat. I think. Well, I have the strawberry cheesecake in front of me, but Ocean Salt. This is like, I don't know. It's like an Okinawa kind of thing looking with the look at that dolphin. Yeah. And each package is designed differently, but it kind of reminds me of like salted caramel, like the salty and the sweet. I know. That appealing to me, but it's, it's good. It's really good. Hey, there's Justin. Justin. Justin is Justin. And so we always have food, even for Justin.

00:30:16 Satoshi: How many pair of glasses does Satoshi have? Glasses? I have three glasses. Interesting. I want more. Three pairs. You have four now. The Canadian one as well. Oh, that's right. Four. Four pairs of glasses. Some from Canada sent you.

00:30:39 Shinichi & Satoshi: What other things are you doing at home now to stay busy? Besides eating and cooking? Well I was thinking of learning Dutch, but I gave up after one day. That's a hard one. It's so hard. I'm baking more, which actually isn't good because you know, it involves food. What else do we do? Exercising. Yeah, that's true. That's true. We're, we're exercising together now just to motivate each other. You clean the balcony, the back, so we're redecorating the balcony and I'm redecorating the bathroom. Yeah, we're doing a lot of cleaning. He's changing the wallpapers. Yeah, I'm changing the wallpaper, things like that. Staying really, really busy. That's good. That's really good. You're, you're all making me feel hungry according to Mir. Are you, Mir? You're using OBS. You're using OBS for the stream. Yes. It's time to turn your house into a multi-camera studio. So I guess everyone's waiting for you guys to get OBS and start doing multi-camera live streams. Oh yes. Yes, yes. That, that is, that is something else that's keeping you busy these days. Yes. OBS. Trying to learn how to do that. Yeah. You know? A little bit difficult. Yeah. No, it's very difficult, but you know, I'll learn it. I don't hate it. So, you know. I'm just trying to learn how to do that.

00:32:19 John Daub: Tabi Eats has another channel where they buy food. Right? I saw a video where you guys went to Costco. This is from Estella, Estella Kami. Oh, um, that's actually, um, I don't really, um, promote it on my other channels, but that's my third channel. I will really and I don't talk, I don't show my face at all and yeah. So that's that channel. Oh, so it's like a, um, a POV kind of video. Uh first person walking around buying stuff exactly exactly yeah there's a youtube channel called dancing bacon where he goes around the world have you seen that like a camera strapped to his chest i have very innovative yeah um a pretty good idea to do something like that i thought about it too but then i don't want to i want to be original and if somebody else has thought of that i'm always hesitant i didn't want to steal his idea i can come up with my own yeah yeah but uh that's just the way i roll um some more questions do you do you like satoshi's facial hair what i like it it's cool i wish i could grow it i don't know i i love it actually um because uh well my viewers know but i i like facial hair i have a thing for facial hair and yeah when someone has even stubbles that the person's um level goes up by 10 points so it's good in my book all right we've lost the two shot for some reason but we'll take um two more questions and then we're gonna have to to end this.

00:34:00 John Daub: Um see here do you cut your own hair uh this is from nicole this is a sensitive issue for me because i have not i can't i needed a haircut before this uh emergency started and now it's just out of control look at this i need hair dye i need i need can i can i i need your help all the time survival will you let her cut your hair ah look the reason why i i was skeptic i was hesitant at first was because like i can forgive myself for the mistakes i make but could i forgive her if she were to mess up my answer is probably yeah but it would take time i don't know if i'm gonna be able to do it but i'm gonna be able to do it i'm gonna be able to do it i'm gonna i'm debating uh whether i should have him cut my hair or not because he did before um at one point and it ended up being okay um but the way it started it was scary um you know he got the uh the clippers i'm like okay make sure it's on number four so he started doing that and his first swipe and from the mirror i saw his face going i'm like what did you do he's like oh it wasn't four but as i swiped it went down to one so it was based on it so i was like oh there was no way to fix it so basically my sides and back were shaved and i kind of just kept my top and you know it turned out okay but would you let are you thinking about cutting your own hair i mean would you um i i i think i think depends on how long it's gonna last but i think um and yeah i'm definitely getting tired of my hair it's like i can't do anything with it yeah and uh so maybe if it is so long will open from eight yeah yeah but i'm still afraid to go to the hair salon even if they open so yeah i'm not sure if i would unless things improve drastically so uh yeah i might have you come i've been going to the same barber for 11 years now and i don't it's it's just hard to have anybody else touch my hair but if if i keep this going this is going to be the brady bunch from the 1970s episode okay we're all going to have massive hair at the end of this we're already pretty close to that now actually i'm getting oh yeah oh mine is so bad so bad it's impossible i would synergy we're in the same boat here we're in the same boat.

00:36:49 John Daub: Um it looks like that's about it we don't have any more questions here um are you guys favorite youtubers some of these questions is hard for me to understand i don't know if they're directed at me or to other people in the chat um so yeah the chat you know with the when i do these lives chats i never these live streams i never really look at the live stream because the chat they're all chatting with each other inside of there oh yeah yeah same thing happens with with us as well yeah so we're having a social what does it like why do you do it like it shows how happy we are and just formality sounds a very unfertilizing way of approaching these topics yeah okay uh okay can i just i adjust my screen is mine it's time to go to the work house gotta do some simple stuff now we're doing a self-study okay it's like akim and i yeah oh i think it's a real tool i think it's a really cool tool I think it's a really cute tool years that's a lot that's that's pretty it's pretty long time and we'll have to come to you for counseling sometimes we get it can I and I get into many fights we work them out me counseling will come to you guys please please yeah yeah you you you know you'll you'll hit that point I think ten years is yeah you'll hit it again around the 16th year mark I think you know yeah we've married for two but we've been dating for way too long it it was pretty bad after four years her father came to me goes when you're gonna do this thing come on you've been dating her for forever just do it how's the question this is another live stream this is another live stream yeah we're going way over time thanks guys I want to say thank you so much for taking the time out of your afternoon to share with us I hope that we can do this again maybe on your channel after we do OBS Definitely Yeah, I'm gonna do it.
